How It Happened
Lebanon Valley dropped a last-second, 70-68 heartbreaker to longtime rival Albright at Sorrentino Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 7.
The Flying Dutchmen (9-6, 3-3 MAC Commonwealth) led by 10 points with 2:50 left to play before the Lions (7-7, 5-0 MAC Commonwealth) closed out the game on a 12-0 run that included a pair of game-winning free throws by Jayson Clark following an LVC foul with just 0.6 remaining.
Following Clark's foul shots,
Will Boccanfuso connected with
Andy Orr on a full-court pass but Orr's last-gasp layup attempt just rimmed out as time expired, allowing Albright to escape with the slim conference victory.
Leading 52-49 with 8:45 left, the Dutchmen used a 9-2 run to take a 10-point lead with 5:46 remaining.
Sam Light keyed the run with three pretty layups and
Collin Moore knocked down a three-ball to give the team its first double-digit advantage of the half.
LVC led by as many as 10 points on three more occasions thanks a
Will Boccanfuso layup, an Orr finger roll from point-blank range, and Boccanfuso's old-fashioned three-point play at the 2:50 mark.
