How It Happened
GLENSIDE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley got a much-needed MAC Commonwealth victory on Wednesday night, holding off Arcadia for the 74-68 win. The Dutchmen improved to 7-9, 4-3 MACC and the Knights fell to 6-9, 2-4 MACC.
It opened up as a close game as it was 6-6 with 7:19 left in the first quarter. From there, LVC went on a 13-5 run over five minutes of action that was capped off by a
Becky Evans trey on the fast break for the 19-11 lead. The Dutchmen maintained a solid six-point advantage at 21-15 after one quarter of action.
Arcadia, however, did not go away quietly and cut LVC's lead to just two (27-25) in the second quarter with 5:40 to go thanks to a 10-4 spurt. For the rest of the period, the game remained a one possession game, but the Dutchmen never gave up the lead and went into halftime with a 36-33 lead.
In the third, the Dutchmen kept the momentum and eventually opened up a 46-48 lead, thanks to a good layup from
Lexie Lantz. The Knights hung in there and LVC's lead was just five heading into the fourth.
In the opening minutes of the final period,
Jasmine Copeland gave the Dutchmen their first double-digit lead when her free throw made it 59-49 with 8:04 remaining. After
Anne Lehr's layup put LVC up 12 at 63-51 at 5:58, a quick 10-2 spurt put Arcadia back in the game with 3:26 left. The Dutchmen's defense clamped down in the final minutes and never let the Knights take the lead and LVC went 5-for-6 from the charity stripe in the final two minutes to hold off Arcadia and win 74-68.
Inside the Numbers
 - Lantz finished with a game-high 21 points and 15 rebounds for another double-double, while
Hilary Yoh added 19 points.
 - Evans (11) and Lehr (10) also registered double-digits in points and Copeland brought down 11 rebounds for LVC.
 - For the Knights, Maureen Fiocca finished with 21 points and Susan Bossler netted 18.
 - Arcadia outshot LVC 43.3-percent to 40.9-percent from the floor.
 - Second chance points were a big part of this game with the Dutchmen scoring 21 compared to the Knights' six.

LVC will enjoy a weekend off before its showdown with No. 22 Messiah inside Sorrentino Gymnasium a week from tonight at 6 p.m.
