How It Happened
Lebanon Valley used three second-half goals to power itself passed Misericordia on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference men's soccer action. The 4-0 shutout moved the Dutchmen to 3-0 on the season, while the Cougars suffered their first lost and fell to 2-1.
In the first half, LVC saw the majority of the scoring chances and eventually broke through when
Cam Alexander delivered a good pass to
Matt Prince who beat the goalie to give the Dutchmen a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute. LVC was able to hold the Cougars off the scoreboard for the remainder of the half and took a one-goal lead heading into the second.
In the last half, Prince was it at again when
John McHale past the ball into the box and Prince was able to get a shot off with his left foot that bent into the back of the net nicely extend the Dutchmen's advantage to 2-0.
Later, in the 63rd minute,
Jake Kline received a pass from
Gabe Stasyszyn one-touched the ball past Misericordia's keeper to make it a 3-0 game. Then in the 85th minute,
Jon Kok put the game out of reach for good with his first tally of the season, as LVC avenged last year's 4-0 loss to the Cougars by beating them this afternoon by that same score.
