How It HappenedOWINGS MILLS, Md. – Lebanon Valley split a double header with Stevenson on Saturday afternoon. The Dutchmen took game one by an 8-6 score before falling 7-3 in the nightcap. LVC moved to 11-13, 4-5 MAC Commonwealth, while the Mustangs now sit at 14-13, 5-4 MAC Commonwealth.
In game one, the score was tied at 6-6 heading into the top of the seventh inning. The Dutchmen took the lead when
Tyler Mathe scored on a wild pitch. Later,
Colin Albright gave LVC a two-run lead with a sacrifice fly.
In the bottom of the inning,
Nathan Smith allowed a lead-off walk and then hit a batter to put runners on first and second with nobody out. After Matt Myers sacrifice-bunted to move the runs up one base, Smith got Hall to strike out and then enduced a groundout to get out of the jam and earn the save in LVC's 8-6 victory.
Early on, Stevenson took a 3-0 lead in the first two innings, but an Edwards triple in the fourth scored
Jonathan Harned and
Zach Smith to make it 3-2. Later in the inning, Albright doubled home Edwards to make it a 3-3 contest. The Mustangs retook the lead 4-3 in the bottom of the fourth, but in the top of the sixth,
Michael Puglisi singled to score Harned and tie the game yet again at 4-4. The Dutchmen went on top later in the sixth when Albright and Marshall Kiessling each hit a sacrifice fly for the 6-4 lead.
At the Plate - Albright went 3-for-3 with three RBI, while
Brett Fundell and Josh Marcelli each added two hits.
- Edwards drove in two and Puglisi and Kiessling each had an RBI.
On the Mound -
Casey Wall took the no decision for LVC. He tossed four innings and gave up four runs.

Jacob Williams (2-2) earned his second win of the season by going two innings while giving up two runs and striking out a pair.
- N. Smith threw a scoreless seventh to earn his second save of the year.

In the nightcap, the Dutchmen got off to a quick start when Puglisi doubled to left in the first to score Edwards and Fundell hit a triple to right field to score Puglisi for the early 2-0 lead. The Mustangs responded quickly and scored three in the bottom of the first to overtake LVC 3-2. Stevenson never trailed from then on, as it went on to score another in the second and three in the third and went on to win 7-3.
At the Plate - Edwards had two hits, while Puglisi, Albright, Fundell, Kiessling, and Josh Marcelli each added one.
- Edwards added a stolen base, while Harned snagged two bags.
On the Mound -
Corey Sell (1-2) was charged with the loss after tossing two innings, while
Jared McCabe relieved Sell and went four innings and gave up just three hits and no earned runs.
Who's Next?The Dutchmen were originally scheduled to play Penn State Schuylkill this Tuesday but the Lions were forced to change a conference game to that day, so that game has been postponed with a makeup date yet to be announced. LVC returns to MAC Commonwealth action by traveling to Messiah on Friday for a 3:30 p.m. game.
