How It Happened
VERO BEACH, Fla. – Lebanon Valley earned a split with Bridgewater St. (Mass.) by winning the second game of a double header 6-2 on Tuesday afternoon in Vero Beach, Florida, home to Historic Dodgertown where the Los Angeles Dodgers played spring training games up until 2008. The Dutchmen moved their record to 3-4, while the Bears now sit at 3-2.

Game One
In the first game, LVC struck first when Matthew Smarkanic hit an RBI-groundout that scored Zach Edwards to make it 1-0 in the top of the first. Bridgewater St., however, countered by scoring six runs in the top of the third inning to take a 6-1 advantage. The Dutchmen got one of those runs back in the bottom of the third when Michael Puglisi launched the ball over the fence for a solo home run, cutting the Bears' lead to four at 6-2.

In the fourth, LVC's Colin Albright roped an RBI-double to score Marshall Kiessling and make it 6-3. The next batter, Joshua Marcelli, crushed the first home run of his young career and tied the game at 6-6. Later in the inning, Edwards singled home Puglisi to give the Dutchmen a 7-6 lead.

Bridgewater St. once again responded in the top of the fifth and scored  four runs, followed by a three-run sixth and four-run seventh inning. The Bears kept LVC off the scoreboard in the final three innings and went on to win 17-7.

Inside the Numbers
 - Edwards finished with two hits for the Dutchmen, while Fundell, Albright, Marcelli, and Puglisi added one each.
 - For the Bears, Travis Ritchie, Reed Pike, Brandon Hoyle, and Chandler Furtado each had three hits.

LVC Starters (Game Two)

How It Happened
LVC scored all six runs in the first inning en route to the 6-2 win over Bridgewater St. to earn the split.

Fundell got things going in the first for the Dutchmen when he singled home Edwards to make it 1-0, while Albright followed later with a single up the middle to plate Kiessling and Fundell to make it a 3-0 score. After Jonathan Harned singled home Albright for a 4-0 game, Puglisi singled through the left side to score Philip Berry and make it 5-0. Edwards capped off the inning with an RBI-single to score Harned for early 6-0 advantage.

The Bears scored a run in the fourth and fifth inning but their potent offense was otherwise kept it check by the Dutchmen's starting pitcher Eric Marrero, who bounced back after a tough start at Wesley back on February 27.

Inside the Numbers
 - Marrero twirled a complete game for LVC, scattering six hits while walking three and striking out one.
  - Edwards finished with two hits for the Dutchmen, while Albright had two RBI.

LVC returns to Fort Pierce tomorrow at 11 a.m. for a single game against Hilbert (N.Y.).
