How It Happened
In the team's season opener in Clermont, Fla. on Monday morning, Lebanon Valley dropped a 4-2 decision to Penn State Behrend in a rematch of last spring's NCAA Tournament Alfred Regional matchup.

The Lions (2-1) struck first, scoring a run in the bottom of the first inning when Allania Banta's two-out double scored Sarah Blagg from first base. Penn State Behrend put together a two-out rally in the bottom of the second. With two down, the Lions managed back-to-back singles before Blagg's home run made it 4-0 after two frames.

LVC (0-1) got on the board in the top of the fifth when Cheyanne Brown's bases-loaded double plated Haley Christensen and Alissa Robinson to cut the deficit in half. Sammy Bost and Cheyanne Brown reached base with two away in the seventh but Behrend pitcher Alexa Bupp worked a ground ball to halt the Flying Dutchmen comeback attempt.

Inside the Circle
- LVC ace Haley Neff got the start on opening day. She threw a complete six-inning game and struck out five batters. The senior allowed seven hits and just one walk.
- The Dutchmen chased Behrend starter Rachel Miller from the game after five innings. She allowed seven hits, a walk, and two earned runs to go along with five strikeouts.

How It Happened
Lebanon Valley twice erased one-run deficits but couldn't complete the come-from-behind victory in an 8-5 setback to Manhattanville in Clermont, Fla. on Monday morning.

The Valiants (4-0) got on the board first with a pair of runs in the top of the first inning but the Dutchmen (0-2) responded in the bottom of the third when Cheyanne Brown's two-out single drove in Haley Christensen from second base to cut the deficit to 2-1. Kelli Valle launched a three-run home run to clear the bases and make it 4-2 LVC after three.

Manhattanville used two dingers in the top of the next stanza to pull back out in front at 5-4 but Brown came up big again when she doubled in the bottom of the fifth to score speedster Sammy Bost from first base and draw the Dutchmen even after five innings of play.

The Valiants had one last offensive outburst in them, however, as a lead-off double led to the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh before the team's third homer of the contest, a two-run shot, gave M'ville an 8-5 cushion it wouldn't relinquish.

Inside the Circle
- Holly Langdon got the start for LVC, going 3.2 innings and striking out two Valiants. She allowed five runs on 11 hits in her first outing of the young season.
- Alexa Windsor threw 3.1 innings in relief of Langdon and was solid, allowing three runs on three hits to go along with one strikeout.
- Manhattanville's Alycia Feeney threw a complete game, surrendering just one earned run on six hits and a walk. She struck out five Dutchmen.

At the Plate
- Cheyanne Brown was a perfect 4-for-4 on the day. She added a double, drove in two runs, and plated once.
- Kelli Valle's home run was the second of her career.
- Aarin Hartenstein led the way for the Valiants, going 3-for-4 from the dish with a double and a team-high three RBI.

Around the Diamond
- Kelli Valle threw out Manhattanville's Alexis Ventarola trying to swipe a bag. It was the game's only stolen base attempt.
- The Dutchmen were perfect in the field while the Valiants committed three errors leading to four unearned runs.
- Sammy Bost made four putouts in center field and Elaine Gross added three of her own in right. Alissa Robinson had a team-high three assists at third base.

Who's Next?
The Dutchmen will play two more tomorrow morning. They take on SUNY Oneonta at 9 a.m. before a matchup with Wittenberg at 11 a.m.
