How It HappenedLebanon Valley's season came to an end with an 81-60 loss at Swarthmore in the quarterfinal round of the ECAC South Tournament on Wednesday night.
Trailing 38-29 at halftime, the No. 2-seeded Garnet opened the second half on a 13-1 run to grab their first lead of the period at 40-39 with 15:32 remaining.
The No. 7-seeded Flying Dutchmen (16-11) were able to pull back out in front as late as the 11:12 mark but struggled mightily after falling behind two possessions later. Swarthmore used a 15-2 run over a span of nearly five minutes to put things out of reach as LVC managed just one field goal in the final 6:15 of the second half.
Sam Light was the sparkplug for the Dutchmen in the early going, scoring the team's first 17 points out of the gate. Lebanon Valley led by as many as 11 points following
Will Boccanfuso's jumper at the 2:17 mark of the first half. Swarthmore's Zack Yonda buried a 3-pointer to cut the deficit to eight before a
Caleb Barwin free throw gave LVC a nine-point advantage at the break.
Turning PointLVC led by double digits just moments before halftime but the Garnet's 15-2 run to begin the second half changed the complexion of the contest as the Dutchmen were forced to play from behind for long stretches for the first time all night.
It Was Over When…Robbie Walsh answered Steve Shaffer's layup on the other end with a pair of free throws with 5:39 left to play to put Swarthmore ahead 67-57. Not only did the Garnet offense continue to execute with a double-digit lead, the Dutchmen managed just one field goal the rest of the way.
Inside the Numbers- The Dutchmen managed just 29 percent shooting from the field (18-for-62).
- Swarthmore's bench netted 45 points compared to just 16 tallies by the Lebanon Valley reserves.
- LVC finished the season 16-11 overall with a 10-6 record in MAC Commonwealth play.
- The Garnet scored 28 points in the paint compared to 14 by Lebanon Valley.
- In the second half, Swarthmore made headway thanks to 50 percent shooting from the floor, while the Dutchmen shot just 21.2 percent.

Sam Light scored a game-high 28 points on 9-of-17 shooting, including five triples.

Will Boccanfuso was the only other Dutchman to reach double digits with 13 points to go along with five rebounds.

- A number of underclassmen saw extended time against Swarthmore, including Eberhart,
Caleb Barwin,
Ricky Bugg, Steve Shaffer, and
Collin Moore.
- Three Swarthmore players reached the double-digit scoring mark, led by Matt Brennan's 19 tallies.
- Robbie Walsh posted a double-double with 18 points and 15 boards for the Garnet.
