How It HappenedLebanon Valley defeated Bethany 4-2 in Clermont, Fla. to earn the team's first victory of the young season on Thursday morning, March 10.
The game began as a pitcher's duel between LVC's
Haley Neff and the Bison's Cassie Weiss, with just one hit being registered through two and a half innings before the Flying Dutchmen offense sprung to life in the bottom of the third.
Elaine Gross singled and swiped second base,
Sammy Bost worked a walk, and
Cheyanne Brown used a bunt for a base hit to load the bases before
Emily Johnson ripped a double to put the Dutchmen on the board first by plating Gross and Bost.
Jordyn Miller's ensuing sacrifice fly to right field was deep enough to drive in Brown and give LVC a 3-0 lead through three frames.
Lebanon Valley added an insurance run in the fifth when Johnson's sacrifice allowed Brown to score after she singled and stole both second and third to begin the stanza.
Neff was automatic until Bethany put together a string of hits in the top of the seventh when the Bison sandwiched a single between a pair of doubles, including Taylor Solomon's one-out shot that drove in two runners to break up the shutout. The Dutchmen ace recovered, however, getting a pop up to shortstop to slow the Bison momentum and a ground ball to second base to seal the victory.

Haley Neff picked up her first win of the season by throwing a complete game and allowing just two runs on five hits. She walked two batters and struck out two more.
- Cassie Weiss took the loss for Bethany after allowing four runs on six hits and two walks. She struck out six batters on the day.
At the Plate-
Emily Johnson drove in a game-high three runs, added a sacrifice, and accounted for LVC's only extra-base hit with a double.

Cheyanne Brown was 2-for-2 at the dish with two runs scored and a sacrifice, while
Elaine Gross went 2-for-3 with a run scored.
- Kylee Clark was the only Bethany player to record multiple hits with two singles.
- Taylor Solomon drove in both Bison runs. She and Fuqua each notched a double, accounting for the team's pair of extra-base hits.

The Flying Dutchmen (2-4) wasted no time getting on the board as
Sammy Bost led off the contest with a bunt single before stealing second base.
Kelli Valle drove her home two at-bats later when she doubled down the left field line.
The scoring stalled during the game's middle stanzas and LVC pitcher
Haley Christensen limited the Falcons (3-6) to just two hits in the first four innings.
LVC broke it open in the top of the fifth when Bost led off with a double,
Cheyanne Brown reached base with a bunt single, and
Emily Johnson took advantage of a Cedar Crest error that allowed Bost to come home and double the advantage.
Emily Stratton's two-out single up the middle drove in Brown and Johnson to make it 4-0 after five.
Christensen worked a 1-2-3 bottom half of the frame and the Dutchmen went back to work in the sixth, scoring two more when Bost's RBI single plated
Kim Ortiz-Marrero from second base and Valle's second double of the game drove in Brown with two down.
The Falcons put a runner on base in both the sixth and seventh stanzas but Christensen and her defense behind her slammed the door and preserved the shutout victory.

- LVC chased Cedar Crest starter Laura Rau from the game after six innings. She allowed five earned runs on 11 hits before Daly made a one-inning appearance in the seventh.
