How It Happened
Lebanon Valley managed just one hit in the team's season opener, a 5-0 loss at Wesley on Saturday afternoon.

Leadoff man Zac Edwards managed the team's only base knock, a single to center field in the top of the sixth inning, and reached base twice more thanks to a hit by pitch and a walk. Brett Fundell managed to work on base on balls but that's all the offense the Flying Dutchmen (0-1) could manage in game one of a doubleheader.

On the other hand, Wesley (3-2) managed all five of its runs in the game's first four innings and got a great outing on the mound from starter Cody Simet. The Wolverines scored twice in the bottom of the first, added a run in the third, and capped the scoring with a pair in the fourth.

On the Mound
- Casey Wall got the ball on Opening Day for the Dutchmen. The junior went 4.2 innings, surrendering nine hits and just two earned runs to go along with a pair of strikeouts.
- Corey Sell spelled Wall on the bump, throwing the final 1.1 innings and striking out two of the four batters he faced while allowing no hits.
- Wesley's Cody Simet brought his best stuff to the rubber, giving up just one hit and two walks to go along with three strikeouts to improve to 2-0 on the young season.

At the Plate
- Leadoff hitter Zac Edwards reached base three times. He managed LVC's lone hit, walked once, and was hit by a pitch.
- Brett Fundell was the only other Dutchman to reach base, working a walk in the top of the seventh inning.
- Christopher Seibert had a big day for Wesley, going 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles and scoring a run.
- KeAndre Jones drove in a game-high two RBI after going 2-for-3 from the dish with a double and a run scored.

Around the Diamond
- The Wolverines stole five bases in the opener. KeAndre Jones and Trey Mears managed to swipe two bags each and Ron Morrello added one steal.
- LVC committed two errors, leading to three unearned Wesley runs, while Mears accounted for the Wolverines' lone error.

How It Happened
Lebanon Valley entered the final inning with a one-run lead but Wesley scored a pair in the bottom of the seventh to earn a 3-2 win and a doubleheader sweep in walk-off fashion.

Following a Zac Edwards walk and a Zach Smith single to begin the game, the Dutchmen (0-2) took advantage of a Wesley error when Marshal Kiessling laid down a sacrifice bunt, as Edwards and Smith plated on the play.

The Wolverines (4-2) cut the deficit in half when Ryan Morello's RBI groundout plated Christopher Seibert in the bottom of the fourth.

The home team stranded runners in scoring position in the fifth and sixth innings until things came full circle in the seventh. LVC stranded Michael Puglisi at second in the top half before Wesley took advantage of the Dutchmen's lone error of the game in the bottom of the inning. Seibert singled to score Cody Dmiterchik and a miscue in the outfield allowed Troy Mears to score from first base.

On the Mound
- Michael Houseal turned in a stout effort for LVC, going five innings and allowing just one run on five hits to go along with three strikeouts.
- Troy Hunter and Eric Marrero made their first collegiate relief appearances in the sixth and seventh innings.
- Wesley's Connor Springsteen got the complete-game victory and allowed just four hits and no earned runs. He struck out eight LVC batters.

At the Plate
- The Dutchmen recorded four hits in the nightcap. Colin Albright's fourth-inning double was the team's lone extra-base knock, while Zac Edwards, Zach Smith, and Michael Puglisi all added singles.
- Edwards did his job well as the leadoff man added a pair of walks to reach base three times. Philip Berry and Glenn Dietrich worked one walk apiece.
- Wesley's Christopher Seibert was the only player to record two hits, finishing 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
- Mike Calvarese accounted for the Wolverines' only extra-base hit with a double in the sixth inning.

Around the Diamond
- Each team committed one error leading to the opposition plating a pair of unearned runs.
- Zac Edwards and Michael Puglisi stole their first bases of the year for LVC.
- Catcher Marshall Kiessling threw out Eric Speidel and Trey Mears attempting to swipe bags.
- Kiessling and Brett Fundell added sacrifices for the Dutchmen.

Who's Next?
It's off to Ft. Pierce, Fla. for spring break for the Dutchmen. LVC will take part in five days of competition, beginning with Westminster (Pa.) on Sunday afternoon, Mar. 6.
