How It HappenedLebanon Valley shot 61.4 percent as a team and 58.8 percent from beyond the arc en route to a dominant 93-75 victory over MAC Commonwealth rival Arcadia on Saturday afternoon.
Andy Orr, the league's leading scorer, poured in a game-high 27 points, while
Sam Light netted 20 and
Zach Mrozek added 15. Josh Scott was Arcadia's top-scorer with 20 tallies.
After Orr won the opening tip,
Will Boccanfuso grabbed the loose ball and found a streaking Mrozek for a layup just moments into the contest. LVC (14-9, 8-6 MAC Commonwealth) wouldn't trail or find themselves tied with the Crusaders (15-8, 8-6 MAC Commonwealth) the rest of the way.
The Dutchmen took their first double-digit lead of the game when Orr converted a layup to make it 27-16 at the 9:12 mark. Lebanon Valley grabbed its largest lead of the first half when Steve Shaffer knocked down a pair of free throws to put his team up 18 with less than 10 seconds remaining before halftime.
Mrozek's old-fashioned 3-point play with 18:21 left to play kept LVC rolling to begin the second half and the Dutchmen advantage eclipsed the 20-point mark for the first time when Light buried a jumper from beyond the arc to make it 63-41 at the 15:09 mark.
Collin Moore's jumper from downtown gave the team its largest lead of the afternoon at 23, and an Orr layup at the 11:15 mark and
Ricky Bugg's fastbreak finger roll with 10:42 to go matched the advantage.
Arcadia drew to within 16 but with just 2:59 remaining, it was far too little too late.
Kyler Burke buried a jumper in the lane and
Caleb Barwin hit a triple in the corner to cap the Dutchmen scoring with less than a minute to play.
Turning PointLebanon Valley led 38-28 with 3:46 remaining before the break and turned it on to close out the first half on a 10-5 run that was capped by a pair of Steve Shaffer free throws and included six straight points from
Andy Orr. The Dutchmen led by as many as 18 before the Knights knocked down a 3-pointer at the halftime buzzer.
It Was Over When…Following a missed 3-ball by Arcadia's Brandon Thompson,
Ricky Bugg cleaned up on the glass and went coast-to-coast, finishing the fast break with a pretty left-handed layup that matched the Dutchmen's largest lead of the night at 23 points with 10:42 left to play.
