ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley's men's soccer team is hours away from competing in just its second-ever conference championship game. LVC will be competing in its first MAC Commonwealth title contest since 2012.
The Flying Dutchmen (14-3) are in the midst of an historic campaign that's seen the squad tie a program record with 14 victories and earn a national ranking for the first time ever, as LVC was ranked No. 22 in the D3soccer.com Top 25 poll two weeks ago.
To earn the program's first MAC Commonwealth championship and an automatic NCAA Tournament berth, the Dutchmen will have to knock off No. 2 Messiah for just the second time ever. LVC last defeated the Falcons in 2008 and fell to the 10-time national champions 1-0 at Herbert Field on a rain-soaked October afternoon earlier this season.
A day after eight players in
Alex Detweiler,
Riley Katshir,
Cam Avery,
Nate Gibbons,
Cam Alexander,
Jake Kline,
Tyler Skye, and
Khup Dal earned MAC Commonwealth All-Conference honors, Lebanon Valley has a chance to avenge the midseason loss to Messiah in the championship game of the league's postseason tournament. LVC takes on the top-seeded Falcons in Grantham at 7:30 p.m.
Live video of the game, as well as live stats, will be provided by Messiah at GoMessiah.tv. Full coverage of the championship matchup can be viewed by visiting
