How It Happened
Lebanon Valley opened up MAC Commonwealth action with a convince 79-62 victory over Widener University on Wednesday night in Sorrentino Gymnasium. The Dutchmen evened their overall record to 3-3, 1-0 MACC, while the Pride fell to 2-3, 0-1 MACC.

LVC opened up the game on fire, jumping out to an 11-3 lead that was capped off by a good jumper from Jennifer Eck with six minutes remaining in the first. Later, with 3:59 remaining, Caroline Scarff scored two of her nine points on a jumper that put LVC ahead by 13 at 18-5. The Dutchmen continued to pour it on in the opening quarter and held a strong 27-12 lead after one period of action.

In the second quarter, LVC maintained its double-digit lead throughout the entire period and never trailed by less than 14 points, holding a strong 41-25 lead heading into halftime.

In the third quarter, the Pride came roaring back and opened the quarter on a 9-4 run to cut the lead to 11 at 45-34 with 4:21 remaining in the third. LVC stopped the bleeding and kept the double-digit advantage until Widener went on another run and the Dutchmen were ahead by just nine at 53-44 going into the final quarter.

The Pride continued to gain momentum and started the third on a mini 5-2 run and cut the lead down to six at 55-49 with 7:53 to go, but that's as close as Widener would get as the Dutchmen responded with a furious 20-5 run that spanned over six minutes, giving LVC a 75-54 dominant lead that it maintained for the rest of the game, en route to the 79-62 victory.
