How It Happened
Lebanon Valley fought valiantly for a half before No. 1 Messiah proved too much in a 4-0 loss to the Falcons at Anderson Field in MAC Commonwealth Championship Tournament Semifinal action on Wednesday night, Nov. 2.

After LVC (11-7) held the nation's top team scoreless for more than a half, Messiah (17-1) got on the board early in the second period when Carissa Gehman converted an attempt with 32:08 left to play before Moriah Pfautz got into the scoring act just 3:12 later when she put home her shot of a deflected centering pass to make it 2-0 Falcons.

Another quick burst of offense led to Messiah's final two scores as Taylor Holt gathered a ball that deflected off LVC goalkeeper Sarah DiMaggio and finished off her attempt from in close with 21 minutes remaining. The contest's final score came just 2:07 later when Kristin Donohue broke away from the Flying Dutchmen defense and put her shot past DiMaggio into the right side of the goal.

Turning Point
After a stingy first half of defense by the Dutchmen, the nation's top team finally broke through when Carissa Gehman found the back of the net in the game's 37th minute. The Falcons doubled their advantage less than four minutes later and on a night when LVC's offense struggled for good looks, it was all Messiah needed to win its 17th consecutive contest and move on to the MAC Commonwealth Tournament Championship on Saturday.
