Volleyball's Win Streak Halted by Blue Jays

How It Happened
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Lebanon Valley saw its 10-match win streak snapped at the hands of Elizabethtown on Wednesday night in non-conference volleyball action. The Dutchmen dropped the match 3-0 and fell to 12-5, while E-Town improved to 5-14.

In the opening set, the Blue Jays opened up a commanding 9-3 lead, however LVC came storming back and scored five straight to come to within one point at 9-8. E-Town was able to respond with a 10-4 spurt and make it 19-12 and the Dutchmen were unable to erase the deficit, as the Blue Jays took the first set 25-14.

The middle set was a back-and-forth affair and was tied at 11-11 before E-Town rattled off seven consecutive points to make it 18-11. LVC came to within striking distance and was down by just six at 22-16, however the Blue Jays were able to finish off the set with a kill to take the set 25-17.

The last set was the closest of the evening and started out with the Dutchmen scoring eight of the first 11 points for the early 8-3 lead. E-Town was able to stay in the match and keep it close and the score was eventually tied at 16-16. With the score knotted at 20-20, the teams traded off points until it was tied at 24-24. An attack error by the Blue Jays' Elle Shatto made it set-point for the Dutchmen, but three straight E-Town points clinched the set at 27-25.

Inside the Numbers
 - Greta Weidemoyer, the reigning AVCA Division III Player of the Week, registered 10 kills, 12 assists, and nine digs for LVC.
 - Jess Attieh had nine kills and three service aces, while Reina Eckman recorded a team-high three blocks.
 - Amber Deshong dug out eight balls, while Allie Riggins and Erin Koons added six assists each.

LVC hosts Gallaudet University and the University of Scranton at Blue Mt. Sports Arena in Ft. Indiantown Gap this Friday at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.
