How It Happened
No. 20 Alvernia put Lebanon Valley in a hole it was unable to climb out of in the team's 3-1 loss in Reading on Saturday afternoon.

The Crusaders (10-0, 2-0 MAC Commonwealth) scored the game's first three goals and LVC (8-3, 1-1 MAC Commonwealth) was unable to come all the way back. The Flying Dutchmen got on the board late when Megan Arnst finished off a feed from Maddie Fox in the 61st minute but it proved too little, too late.

Margaret Wentzel got the scoring started for Alvernia when she finished off Andrea Wysocki's corner insertion ten minutes into the contest.

Wysocki and Wentzel reversed roles in netting the Crusaders' second goal of the day when Wysocki deflected Wentzel's initial attempt past LVC goalkeeper Sarah DiMaggio and into the back of the net in the 13th minute.

Wentzel eventually added a second score when she converted a shot from point-blank range little more than a minute into the second half to increase the home team's advantage with 33:54 left to play.

Turning Point
Trailing 2-0 to begin the second half, Lebanon Valley was unable to prevent Margaret Wentzel from scoring her second marker of the contest just moments after halftime. The goal made it 3-0 Alvernia and the Dutchmen were unable to make a real push on a day when the team's offense struggled to contend with a Crusader front line that got off 20 shots.

Inside the Numbers
- Alvernia is the third ranked team LVC has faced during its 2016 campaign. The Dutchmen are now 1-2 against ranked competition after falling to No. 10 Montclair State and defeating No. 9 William Smith.
- The Crusaders finished with advantages in both shots (20-6) and shots on goal (10-5).
- Lebanon Valley managed just five penalty corner opportunities compared to 14 awarded to Alvernia.
- Sarah DiMaggio made five stops for the Dutchmen in goal, while Victoria ByDeLey made on save after spelling DiMaggio midway through the first half.
- Crusader goalkeeper Rebecca Brosious made four saves on the day.

Who's Next?
Lebanon Valley faces an even tougher test when it hosts No. 1 Messiah for the team's annual Homecoming contest on Saturday night, Oct. 8.
