How It HappenedLebanon Valley outshot Lycoming from the field, from the free throw line, and from beyond the arc, but a season-high 29 turnovers doomed the Flying Dutchmen in the team's 96-87 loss on Saturday afternoon.
Andy Orr and
Sam Light continued their strong play as of late as the big man recorded a double-double thanks to his 27 points and 10 rebounds, and the shifty guard poured in 26 points to go along with seven boards and five assists.
The Warriors (13-3, 6-2 MAC Commonwealth) led by as many as 16 points in the second half before LVC (11-5, 5-2 MAC Commonwealth) mounted a tremendous charge to cut the deficit to 78-77 following a Light 3-ball off an Orr assist with 4:18 left to play.
Lycoming responded with a debilitating 4-point play two possessions later. Light answered by converting a pair of free throws on the other end to keep it a one-possession game but the Warriors took advantage of another LVC turnover and scored the game's next six points to put it out of reach.
The Dutchmen led just once when Light snagged a defensive rebound and converted a layup on the offensive end to make it 24-23 at the 12:53 mark of the first half.
After falling behind by 10, Lebanon Valley pulled to within three when
Zach Mrozek knocked down a pair of foul shots with 2:13 remaining in the first half. Lycoming had an answer, however, and scored the next five points to take a 55-47 lead into the break.
Turning PointAfter erasing a sizable deficit and drawing to within one point with 4:18 remaining, Lebanon Valley appeared poised to steal one on the road. But a crushing four-point play jumpstarted a pivotal 10-2 Lycoming run to quell the Dutchmen comeback effort.
