How It HappenedANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley came from behind to sneak past Wilkes 2-1 on Saturday afternoon at Herbert Field. The Dutchmen picked up their first victory of the season and now sit at 1-5, while the Colonels fell to 1-5.
Wilkes found the back of the net first in the 11th minute when John Stoner came down the left side of the field and beat
Cam Avery on the right side for a 1-0 lead. The Colonels nearly scored earlier in the period just 15 seconds into the match but overall LVC controlled the tempo of the game for most of the first half.
Later in the first, in the 30th minute,
Bradley Mehl delivered an excellent corner kick to
Cam Alexander and from about 20 yards out, Alexander kicked a teardrop over Tim Gallagher's head and into the net to tie the contest at 1-1 as the same score held up at halftime.
After the break, a chippy contest that featured five yellow cards (4 Wilkes, 1 LVC) and one red card (Wilkes) took a turn in the Dutchmen's favor when
