How It Happened
Lynchburg's offense came to life after halftime and Lebanon Valley's never quite got going in LVC's 3-0 loss to the Hornets in the team's 2015 season opener on Tuesday afternoon.

Defense was the name of the game in the first half as both offenses struggled to find a groove in the early going. Morgan Lammando finally broke the scoreless streak in the 28th minute when she pushed her attempt past LVC goalkeeper Victoria ByDeLey from close range. Her strike from would prove to be the game-winner.

Looking for an equalizer, the Dutchmen pushed the pace early in the second half. Lyndee Sheaffer had a great look in front with 26 minutes remaining but Lynchburg goalkeeper Beka Hess turned away her snipe with an impressive diving save to her right.

The Hornets doubled their advantage midway through the second half when Alyssa Mills slipped one by LVC's Sarah DiMaggio with just over 22 minutes left to play. Megan McAnally all but ended Lebanon Valley's comeback hopes with her first goal of the year less than five minutes later.

LVC got a few good looks as the clock wound down but Hess proved game. Tricia Martin outran a Lynchburg defender and scooped one towards the net from in tight but Hess turned her shot away at the 14-minute mark. Megan Arnst had a backhand opportunity with nine minutes to play but Hess ended the threat with a kick save.

It Was Over When…
McAnally punched her attempt past LVC goalkeeper Sarah DiMaggio from just inside the circle's right side with 17:56 left in the second half. With the Dutchmen offense struggling, Hess playing well, and fewer than 20 minutes remaining, the 3-0 deficit was too much for Lebanon Valley to overcome.

Notable Performance
- Victoria ByDeLey: The freshman goalkeeper made her first career start in her first collegiate outing, allowing just one score and making three saves in more than 60 minutes of play. Not a bad debut.

Inside the Numbers
- The contest was played on a neutral site at Shippensburg University's Robb Sports Complex.
- LVC was aggressive inside the circle and was awarded nine penalty corners compared to just six for Lynchburg.
- Lyndee Sheaffer led Lebanon Valley with two shots on goal. Tricia Martin and Megan Arnst recorded one SOG apiece.
- Morgan Lammando and Alyssa Mills led the Hornets with two SOG apiece. Each found the back of the net once.
- A Dutchmen shutout defeat has been a rarity as of late. LVC was shut out just once in 2014.
- Lynchburg, an NCAA tournament qualifier a year ago, won 16 games including seven victories of the shutout variety.
- The last time Lebanon Valley dropped a season opener came in 2013 when the Dutchmen fell to Drew 3-0.

Who's Next?
LVC travels to Drew University to take part in the school's annual Fall Festival tournament this weekend. The Dutchmen face the hosts Friday at 3 p.m. before taking on Montclair State on Saturday afternoon.
