Game 1Lebanon Valley erased a three-run deficit, scored six unanswered runs, and defeated Widener 6-3 in game one of a Commonwealth Conference doubleheader on Monday afternoon.
Tessa Deardorff made history by becoming LVC's all-time hits leader thanks to an RBI single in the fifth inning.
The Pride (12-3, 5-2 CC) plated three runs in the bottom of the second inning but Deardorff's single down the left field line in the fifth drove in pinch-runner
Kayla Bolinsky to get the Flying Dutchmen (6-11, 3-4 CC) on the board.
Jordyn Miller hit a clutch two-run homer in the top of the sixth that scored
Emily Johnson and tied things at 3-3. Neither team could get it done in seven innings and the game went to extras.
After a scoreless eighth,
Sammy Bost came up big when she singled to left field in the ninth, scoring
Angela Harris and giving LVC its first lead of the game. Johnson's double drove in Deardorff and Bost to give the visitors some breathing room and starter
Haley Neff sealed the win in the bottom half of the stanza.
Game 2Widener avenged a game one loss by riding a six-run fifth inning to a 9-1 victory over Lebanon Valley in the finale of Monday evening's Commonwealth doubleheader.
The Pride (13-3, 6-2 CC) posted three runs in the bottom of the first but LVC (6-12, 3-5 CC) cut into the deficit and looked poised to make another comeback when
Emily Johnson singled up the middle, allowing
Sammy Bost to cross the plate on the play thanks to a Widener error.
From there, however, it was all Pride as the home team used six hits and two Flying Dutchmen errors to put up a game-ending crooked number in the bottom of the fifth.

History Is MadeTessa Deardorff's fifth inning single in the opener was the 174th of her career, good enough to give her sole possession of first place on Lebanon Valley's all-time hits list. Deardorffs now own the number one and two spots in program history as Tessa's sister
Katie Deardorff `14, former player and current assistant coach, finished her career with 173.
Quotables"We were very excited to see Tessa (Deardorff) break the hits record today," said LVC head coach
Stacey Hollinger about the program's newest record-holder. "She has worked extremely hard during her career and for her to reach this milestone speaks volumes about her talent and effort. We are extremely proud that she wears our uniform and represents LVC."
Next UpAnother day, another doubleheader for LVC. The Dutchmen travel to Gettysburg for non-conference DH action tomorrow afternoon.
