Game 1
Lebanon Valley and Messiah went back-and-forth in game one of a Commonwealth Conference doubleheader before the Falcons scored four runs in the fifth inning and held on for a 7-4 victory on Monday afternoon.

Devin Dellinger's single to left center in the top of the second scored Phill Dohner and got LVC (8-9, 3-4 CC) on the board first but the Falcons (7-10, 5-6 CC) answered back with a run to tie it up in the bottom of the frame.

Zac Smith's sac fly in the third plated Frank Nietz but Messiah responded when Joe Saufley launched a solo shot to right center, knotting the score at 2-2.

Mike Puglisi put the Flying Dutchmen back out in front when he doubled to right center in the fourth and plated Nietz for the second time. But again, the home team had an answer and tied the score for the third time in the bottom of the stanza.

Dohner tipped the scales back in LVC's favor with a sac fly to left field that drove in Zach Smith in the fifth but Messiah was the first team to put up a crooked number, scoring four in the frame's bottom half thanks to a double, a triple, a single, and an RBI groundout.

Game 2
After falling behind early, Lebanon Valley nearly pulled off the comeback in game two of Monday's Commonwealth doubleheader with Messiah but ultimately fell 3-2 as the Falcons completed the sweep this afternoon.

Messiah (8-10, 6-6 CC) used five singles to score all three of its runs with two outs in the bottom of the third inning and the Flying Dutchmen (8-10, 3-5 CC) didn't record a hit until the top of the fifth. When they did, however, they put runs on the board.

Colin Albright walked, Glenn Dietrich singled to right center field, and Jonathan Harned singled to the pitcher to set in motion a play that saw the Falcons commit an error, allowing both Albright and Dietrich to score.

Devin Dellinger, who was pinch run for by Korey Johnson, and Harned reached base with two outs in the seventh but LVC couldn't drive them in.
