How It HappenedStevenson held off Lebanon Valley, 11-6, in a twice-delayed Commonwealth Conference semifinal on Thursday.
The Dutchmen (10-7) received two-goal games from
Tori Kuntz and
Sam Boyce but couldn't answer aggressive play in the fan by the Mustangs (12-6), who scored six of their 11 goals on free-position shots. Stevenson advances to Saturday's CC final at Messiah; LVC awaits a possible ECAC Tournament berth when the field is announced Monday.
After a lengthy lightning delay about eight minutes in, Stevenson took control of the game with a 4-0 first-half run after early strikes by Kuntz and
Emma Jones gave LVC a 2-1 lead. Kuntz and
Anna Pagels scored inside the final five minutes of the half, but the Mustangs took a 7-4 lead into the half.
The teams barely got out of the locker room before they had to go back due to persistent lightning, and Stevenson scored three straight to open the second half and take a commanding 10-4 lead. LVC added two late goals by Boyce.
Notables- The game finished more than four-and-a-half hours after its start time of 4 p.m. due to the two lightning delays.
- Stevenson outshot LVC 27-19. Free position shooting was a huge factor as the Mustangs drew 10 chances to LVC's three and scored six times off of them.

Shelby Morris made eight saves for LVC. SU split goalies between halves with Maggie Lawder earning the win with six stops and Leanne Bittner stopping one.
- Kathryn Merrick and Olivia Monteiro each had hat tricks for Stevenson.

Morgan Heller led LVC's defense with three caused turnovers and as many ground balls.
Bailey Benz generated two takeaways as well.
