LVC Comes Up Just Short On Final Day of Spring Break

Saint Benedict 3, Lebanon Valley 2
#6 Trine 8, Lebanon Valley 0 (6 Innings)

How It Happened
For the fourth time this week, Lebanon Valley came within one run of earning victory, only to fall by the slimmest of margins in the end. The Flying Dutchmen dropped a pair of contests on the final day of spring break in Clermont, Fla. – a 3-2 loss to Saint Benedict and an 8-0 defeat at the hands of the #6 team in the nation, Trine.

Haley Christensen was strong inside the circle in the opener, allowing just two runs on eight hits in addition to striking out two batters. Sammy Bost went 2-for-3 from the plate with a run scored. Angela Harris accounted for the Dutchmen's other run of game number one.

Saint Benedict scored two runs in the top of the first inning but LVC drew even thanks to Kayla Bolinsky's fifth inning RBI single that drove in Harris and Bost's unearned run in the sixth.

But a Lebanon Valley wild pitch in the top of the seventh proved the difference as Saint Benedict plated the eventual game-winner and the Dutchmen were unable to produce the game-tying run in the bottom half.

LVC struggled to get anything going at the dish against the Thunder in the finale and Trine methodically churned out runs, ending the game after six.

Next Up
The Dutchmen are scheduled to host their 2015 home opener against Lancaster Bible on Tuesday afternoon.
