How It HappenedLebanon Valley closed out its time in Fort Pierce, Fla. by splitting a doubleheader with Wilkes on Thursday afternoon. The Flying Dutchmen fell to the Colonels 5-2 in the opener before bouncing back with a 4-2 win in the finale.
In game number one,
Brett Fundell drove in
Zac Edwards in the top of the first inning and
Zach Smith plated on a passed ball in the third. LVC managed just one hit the rest of the way and were unable to overcome Wilkes' offensive output.
The nightcap saw a reversal for the Dutchmen as starter
Casey Wall limited the Colonels to just two runs. Wall got the win and
Jason Barthold earned the save in getting Lebanon Valley (4-4) back to the .500 mark.
A
Colin Albright triple scored Fundell in the second inning and a three-run third in which Edwards,
Phill Dohner, and Z. Smith came across proved enough to secure the game two victory.
