How It HappenedLebanon Valley held Meredith to two goals in the second half to break a 5-5 halftime tie and win, 12-7, in their first-ever spring break trip to Raleigh, North Carolina.
The Dutchmen beat the defending USA South champion and 2014 NCAA Tournament participant Avenging Angels (1-1) in a back-and-forth game that featured four ties and three lead changes.
A key 3-1 run in the middle of the second half featuring two goals from
Bailey Benz and
Tori Kuntz's third tally broke the tie and put LVC in control up 9-7 at the period's midpoint. Another Kuntz goal followed by
Jenny Simensky's strike set the Dutchmen comfortably up 11-7 in the closing minutes, and a late
Emma Jones goal put the icing on the cake.
In the first half, LVC got off to a quick 3-1 start on goals by Kuntz,
Sam Boyce, and
Nikki Lloyd, but Meredith reeled off three straight to lead 4-3 before
Alyse Bingham and Boyce gave LVC the lead back. Meredith scored with five seconds left in the half to tie it 5-5.
Notables- Kuntz led the Dutchmen (2-3) with four goals, extending her goal-scoring streak to seven games dating back to last season.

Bailey Benz scored twice, her third straight multi-goal game, and
Sam Boyce had a pair for her fourth straight multi-score outing.

Emily Moatz stepped up on defense with two caused turnovers and a game-high five draw controls. Benz and Boyce also had a pair of takeaways each. The Dutchmen defense allowed only two second-half goals and kept the Avenging Angels scoreless for the final 18:19 of the game.

Megan Kastner made her first career start on defense and caused a turnover, while
Brenna O'Neill notched her first career points with a pair of assists in the first half.
