How It HappenedLebanon Valley fell into an early hole and never recovered, falling 66-49 on the road at Arcadia on Wednesday. A 9-0 Arcadia run in the opening five minutes built a double-digit lead, and LVC shot just 25.9 percent in the first half to trail by 18, 36-18, at halftime.
Arcadia dominated the glass 48-25 as it continued to build its lead to as much as 21 points in the second half. A late LVC surge keyed by 10 points from
Luke Berguson in a nine-minute span cut the lead to 10 late, but Arcadia free throw shooting in the final two minutes shut the door on any comeback hopes held by the Dutchmen.
Notables-
Kevin Agnew's 17 points led all scorers. The reigning Commonwealth Conference and ECAC player of the week added four rebounds, three assists, and three steals.
- All 10 of Berguson's points came in the second half.
Zach Mrozek also scored 10 off the bench
- Despite an improved second half, LVC was held to 34 percent shooting to Arcadia's 43.9 percent. LVC's 49 points were a season-low. LVC, which came in averaging more than six three-pointers a game, made just one - a second-half bucket by Agnew - its lowest total of the season.
- Arcadia received only seven points off the bench, but didn't need it as starters John Landro (15), Torrell Candelaria (14), Joe Brown (14), and Jose Figueroa (10) picked up the scoring slack.
-
Steven Shaffer (14),
Vince Soto (7), and
Matt McMonagle (8) all saw career-high minutes.
The Playoff PictureLVC remains in fifth place, tied with Hood (idle on Wednesday night) and helped greatly by Stevenson's win over Albright, who sits a game back of the Dutchmen. [
