How It HappenedThe holidays came early for Lebanon Valley as the team outscored MAC Commonwealth rival Alvernia by 17 points in the second half en route to a convincing 74-62 road win on Monday night.
Will Boccanfuso led all Flying Dutchmen with a career-high 20 points on a stout 9-of-10 shooting night from the field, while
Andy Orr and
Travis Conrad cleaned up on the glass and grabbed 10 rebounds apiece.
LVC (7-4, 3-1 MAC Commonwealth) held the Crusaders (5-4, 1-2 MAC Commonwealth) to just 30 percent shooting after the break, and while clinging to a 57-52 advantage late in the second half, ended the contest on a crucial 17-10 run that saw
Kyler Burke,
Ricky Bugg, Conrad, Orr, and
Sam Light all find twine.
The Dutchmen opened the second half on a similar run and grabbed their first lead of the final 20 minutes when Boccanfuso swiped a steal and laid it home in transition on the other end to make it 34-33 at the 17:30 mark. LVC scored eight straight at one point to increase the advantage to 44-35 with 12:59 left remaining.
Light was the team's sparkplug in the first half. The sophomore netted seven of his eight total points in the opening 20 minutes. Lebanon Valley led by as many as five in the early going but Alvernia ended the half on a 10-0 run and took a 32-27 lead into the break.
It Was Over When…Leading 57-52 with 6:40 left to play, the Dutchmen put together a decisive 13-2 run over the next 4:04 to put things out of reach.
Notable PerformerWill Boccanfuso – The sophomore had the best game of his young career on Monday night, netting a career-high 20 points on an impressive 9-for-10 shooting from the floor. He added a game-high three steals, three assists, and a pair of rebounds. Boccanfuso has continued to progress nicely since cracking the starting lineup a few weeks ago.

- Orr and Conrad pulled in a game-best 10 rebounds apiece, while Mrozek filled up the stat sheet nicely with seven boards and a pair of steals.

Ricky Bugg were solid as each player scored eight points and grabbed five rebounds.
- The Dutchmen were deadly in the lane and netted 40 points in the paint compared to just 22 by Alvernia.
- As has been a trend lately, LVC shot better than 50 percent from the field on the night (52.9 percent).
- Marquis Marshall scored a game-high 22 points for the Crusaders off the bench. Charles Cooper netted 13 and Alex Shippen added 11.
- For the Dutchmen, Monday's victory ended a three-game skid against Alvernia dating back to 2014.
