How It HappenedGLENSIDE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley, who received votes in the latest D3Hoops.com poll, began 2015-16 MAC Commonwealth action by crushing Arcadia 72-44 on Wednesday night. For the second consecutive contest, four Dutchmen were in double-digits in points, as the win propelled LVC to 5-1, 1-0 MAC Commonwealth, while the Knights fell to 3-3, 0-1 MAC Commonwealth.
The Dutchmen took control of the game early on and never looked back. They jumped out to a 12-2 lead, capped by a
Taylor Umbrell trey with 3:58 remaining in the opening quarter. In the quarter's final seconds,
Kiely Chaklos made a free threw to give LVC a 21-7 advantage, its largest of the game to that point.
The Dutchmen continued to dominate in the second quarter.
Jennifer Eck connected on a 3-pointer midway through the quarter to make it a 31-10 score. Arcadia finished the second quarter on a 9-5 spurt, but LVC took a commanding 36-19 heading into the halftime break.
Coming out of halftime, the Dutchmen maintained their large lead and were up 54-34 with one quarter to go. With 21 seconds remaining in the fourth, LVC hit its largest lead of the game, 30, when an
Alyssa Cirucci triple made it 72-42. Arcadia made a layup in the closing seconds, but the Dutchmen won big at 72-44.
Inside the Numbers - Umbrell led LVC's offense with 16 points on 5-of-6 shooting, while Chaklos added 12 points.
Bridget Rothert totaled 11 points and
Lexie Lantz added 10 and brought down a team-high seven boards, while swatting away four balls.
 - The Dutchmen shot 46.9-percent from the field, compared to Arcadia's 26.6-percent.
 - LVC led in rebounds (46-35), blocks (5-1), assists (16-8), and points off turnovers (20-9).
 - Tonight's game was the Dutchmen's second consecutive game in which four players recorded 10 points or more.
Who's Next?LVC returns to the friendly confines of Sorrentino Gymnasium on Saturday at 1 p.m. when the Dutchmen host Albright in a rematch of last year's ECAC South Tournament Championship game.
