How It HappenedFour players reached the double-digit scoring mark and Lebanon Valley never trailed in an 83-74 road win over Arcadia in the team's MAC Commonwealth opener on Wednesday night.
The Flying Dutchmen (4-3, 1-0 MAC Commonwealth) got 25 points and eight rebounds from
Andy Orr, while
Zach Mrozek poured in a career-high 20 points.
Sam Light netted 18 and
Travis Conrad added 11 and eight boards.
LVC jumped out to a 6-0 lead thanks to Conrad converting a free throw following a technical foul, Mrozek knocking down a 3-ball, and Conrad finding Orr for a layup all within the game's opening two minutes.
The Knights (5-2, 0-1 MAC Commonwealth) cut the deficit to 14-13 at the 14:42 mark but Light ended the Arcadia push with a 3-pointer on LVC's next possession.
Ricky Bugg's 3-pointer with 3:08 left before the break gave the Dutchmen their largest lead of the first half at 38-29 but Arcadia used an 11-4 run over the next 2:20 to draw within two. A Conrad layup and Light's steal and score extended the advantage to 46-40 at halftime.
The Knights hung around early in the second half but a Conrad 3-ball and a Mrozek jumper on back-to-back possessions gave the Dutchmen their first double-digit lead of the night at 59-48 with 13:48 left to play.
Leading by five with 11 minutes remaining, LVC scored nine straight over a span of 2:06.
Kyler Burke's jumper capped the run to make it 72-58 with nine minutes left.
Arcadia drew to within six with 1:09 remaining but solid defense kept the Knights from making a late push and Mrozek converted three free throws down the stretch to seal the victory.
Notable PerformerZach Mrozek – The athletic junior turned in his best performance of the young season on Wednesday. In addition to scoring a career-high 20 points on 7-of-13 shooting (5-of-6 from the foul line), he pulled in a game-best eight rebounds to go along with two assists, a pair of steals, and a block.
Inside the Numbers- LVC had a solid shooting night, racking up a 53.4 field goal percentage. It's the second straight game in which the Dutchmen shot better than 50 percent from the floor.

Travis Conrad (11 points, 4-of-8) all reached the double-digit scoring mark by shooting at least 50 percent from the field.
- Orr's strong sophomore campaign continued on Wednesday night. He currently leads the MAC Commonwealth in rebounding (7.9 per game) and ranks second in scoring (20.6 ppg).
- Conrad came to life in the second half, scoring eight of his 11 points and grabbing five of his game-high eight rebounds after the break. He added a game-best five assists.
- After managing just one 3-pointer in Sunday's loss to Moravian, Lebanon Valley converted six against the Knights on 35.3 percent shooting from distance.
- The Dutchmen were strong down low and outscored Arcadia 38-to-22 in the paint.
- Lebanon Valley recorded assists on nearly half of the team's made baskets. The Dutchmen assisted on 14 of their 31 made field goals.
- LVC has won its last two MAC Commonwealth openers (83-80 win at Messiah in 2014-15).
