How It HappenedLebanon Valley dominated the Scranton Tri-Match and blanked Gallaudet 3-0 before sweeping the hosts, Scranton, 3-0 in Saturday in Scranton. The Dutchmen finished the regular season with a 21-9 overall mark.
Gallaudet MatchThe opening set was close throughout, however the Dutchmen led for most of the set. At 11-10, LVC went on a 14-7 run to close out the first set at 25-17.
The second set was even closer than the first and when the Bison had set point at 25-24, the Dutchmen scored three in a row to overtake Gallaudet and win the set 27-25.
The third set was not very close, as LVC jumped out to a 9-4 lead and never looked back. The Dutchmen led by as many as 12 points en route to the 25-19 advantage and took the match 3-0.
Inside the Numbers Against Gallaudet - Weidemoyer, Attieh, and Quirk were all in double digits in kills with 13, 12, and 11 respectively.
- Moltz and
Allie Garrett added two aces apiece, while Quirk had five blocks.
- Moltz tallied 38 assists and Garrett had 14 digs, while
Emily Sides had nine.
Scranton MatchLVC jumped out to an 8-2 advantage against the Royals, and later led by eight at 16-8. A service error later gave the Dutchmen the set at 25-17.
In the second set, Scranton led at 12-8, but an 8-4 run tied the set at 16-16. At set point, a Royals' attack error clinched the middle set for the Dutchmen at 25-22.
LVC led midway through the third set at 11-8, but Scranton eventually tied it at 16-16. From there, LVC finished off the set on a 9-4 run and took the set 25-20.
Inside the Numbers Against Scranton - Attieh led the offense attack with 13 kills and Weidemoyer added 10 more.
- Moltz finished with an impressive four service aces, and added 32 assists.
- Attieh and Weidemoyer had four blocks apiece, while Garrett had 15 digs.
LVC Set for Matchup at MessiahThe Dutchmen are the No. 3 seed in the MAC Commonwealth Championship and travel to take on No. 2 Messiah on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The winner advances to the championship match on Saturday.
