How It Happened
As has been a trend of late, Lebanon Valley earned a victory in thrilling fashion to extend the team's recent win-streak to five games. The Flying Dutchmen used a game-winning penalty stroke from Rachel Gorman and two clutch defensive saves by Kristen Garman to secure a 3-2 comeback victory over FDU-Florham at Arnold Field on Wednesday night.

With 18:54 left in regulation and the score tied 2-2, LVC (8-5) was awarded a penalty stroke after a Devil defender made hard contact with Lyndee Sheaffer as she was driving towards the goal. Gorman took the stroke and pushed her attempt passed FDU-Florham goalkeeper Amy Defnet and into the left side of the net for what proved to be the deciding score.

From there, LVC's defense stole the show as Kristen Garman made two stellar defensive saves, including a game-saver with 21 seconds left to play, to thwart the Devils' attempt at netting the equalizer. Goalkeeper Victoria ByDeLey also made two of her four stops on the night in the game's final seven minutes.

After allowing two goals to begin the second half, LVC goalkeeper Kendra Moll redeemed herself in a big way when she re-entered the contest and turned away a penalty stroke from FDU-Florham leading-scorer Kim Davis in the 45th minute. She made another save two minutes later before giving way to a returning ByDeLey.

With her team trailing 2-1 midway through the second half, Molly Van Leuvan drove into the circle and found Sheaffer in close for the equalizer in the 49th minute. McKenna Lupold started the scoring play with a perfectly-placed through pass that split a pair of FDU-Florham defenders and found the stick of Van Leuvan.

The Devils (9-5) erased a 1-0 deficit early in the second half when Noelle Shirey and Kim Davis scored back-to-back goals in just 1:14. Shirey put home a loose ball from close range while Davis finished off a penalty corner offering from the top of the circle in the 38th minute.

Brittany Fleisher got LVC on the board first when she gathered a ball on the right side of the field, drove through a number FDU-Florham defenders as she entered the circle, and struck her offering into the right corner of the goal passed a diving Defnet with 13:55 remaining in the first half.

Notable Performers
Rachel Gorman, Kristen Garman – Rachel Gorman was last week's MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week but it was her offensive output that stood out tonight. Where FDU-Florham's Kim Davis was unable to convert a potential game-changing penalty stroke, Gorman had no such problem. The sophomore defender lofted her attempt into the left side of the goal for what proved to be the game-winner with 18:54 left to play. Kristen Garman turned in an effort worthy of her team captain status when she made two outstanding defensive saves in crunch time, one of which turned away the potential game-tying score by a matter of inches and the other with less than 30 seconds remaining to seal the dramatic victory for the Dutchmen.
