How It HappenedTaylor Umbrell's 3-ball with 2:04 left to play put Lebanon Valley ahead for good in the team's 69-63 road victory over Hood at BB&T Arena on Wednesday night.
Trailing by as many as ten midway through the second half, LVC (12-6, 4-6 CC) outscored the Blazers (4-15, 2-8 CC) 29-13 in the game's final 11:15. Led by Umbrell,
Bridget Rothert, and
Peyton Carper, the Flying Dutchmen used an 11-0 run to storm back and claim a 51-50 lead; their first since the 19:44 mark.
Hood responded with five-straight points and a Brittney George layup put the Blazers out in front 58-53 with 4:51 remaining.
LVC kept it close and eventually reclaimed a 2-point advantage when Rothert buried a 3-ball with 2:47 left to play. Hood drew even on the next possession but the home team couldn't keep up following Umbrell's game-changer from beyond the arc.
The Dutchmen led by as many as nine on two occasions in the first half; following
Alyssa Cirucci's 3-pointer at the 7:26 mark and
Rachel Kelly's jumper with 6:19 left in the half.
The Blazers closed out the half on an 18-9 run to draw even at 36-36 at the break.
Notables-
Taylor Umbrell led the way for Lebanon Valley with 11 points and a game-high 10 rebounds; her second double-double of the year. She also added a game-best six steals.

Bridget Rothert scored a game-high 20 points, upping her team-leading points per game average to 16.3. It was her fifth 20-point outing of the season.
- Carper joined Umbrell and Rothert as the third LVC player to reach the double-digit scoring mark with 12. It's the 12th game this season in which at least three players have scored ten points each in a contest.
- The Dutchmen defense was especially smothering against Hood. As a unit, LVC swiped a season-high 17 steals and scored 23 points off Blazer turnovers.
- Lebanon Valley came away with the win despite being outrebounded 43-36 and scoring just 12 points in the paint, compared to Hood's 26.
- The long ball was a key factor in the Dutchmen's comeback effort as they shot a clutch 66.7% (4-of-6) from distance in the second half.
- After shooting an abysmal 37.9% (11-of-29) from the free throw line in the teams' first meeting this season, Hood shot a more respectable 63.6% (14-of-22) from the charity stripe Wednesday night.
- With tonight's victory, LVC completed the regular season sweep of the Blazers after topping them 80-51 in Annville on Dec. 3.
