WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley awoke from a two-game scoring drought in a win over Susquehanna this past Wednesday and they continued the trend with an even more impressive 4-0 blanking of Wilkes on Saturday afternoon, Sep. 20.
Senior Jordan Ferguson put the Flying Dutchmen on the board first when he connected on an attempt in the game's second minute. Sophomore
Ian McGinnis struck one low and true past Wilkes' goalkeeper Patrick Loube off a precise cross from freshman
Austin Freeman to double the LVC advantage in the 34th minute.
After the break, freshman
Tyler Skye got into the scoring act when he beat his defender and put a ball into the high right corner of the Colonels net to register his third goal of the year in the 63rd minute. Freshman
Matt Prince put the game on ice when he converted a penalty kick in the 82nd minute.
This one was all Lebanon Valley as the visitors registered twice as many shots on goal (8) as Wilkes (4). Sophomore
Kyle Miller made four saves in 76:34 and combined with
Matt Blanke for the shutout.
The victory improved the Dutchmen to 4-3-1 on the year and is the team's second straight win. Lebanon Valley will look to build on the streak when they host Misericordia at Herbert Field on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 24 in one of the team's last non-conference matchups of the fall.
