Box Score NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Randolph-Macon's offense generated a goal in each half as it downed Lebanon Valley, 2-0, on the second day of the Christopher Newport Tournament.
The Dutchmen (1-1), who won in overtime Friday night against Whitman, were outshot 16-4 by the Yellow Jackets (1-1). Freshman goalkeeper
Cam Avery, in his first career start, kept Lebanon Valley in the game with nine saves.
RMC's Jacob McHugh scored in the 27th minute, heading in Greg Noordanus' set piece. LVC's defense held the Yellow Jackets in check until late, but Noordanus again generated a chance for Ryan White to finish in the 85th minute.
Joe Gallagher and
Gabe Stasyszyn generated LVC's only two shots on goal, with Gallagher's header saved in the 51st minute and Stasyszyn's chance stopped in the closing minutes. Five of LVC's six shots came in the second half as they searched for an equalizer.
LVC will visit F&M next Saturday as part of a joint tournament before debuting at home Sept. 7 against either Wesley or Gwynedd Mercy.
