Lebanon Valley Sweeps at Dickinson Tri-Meet

CARLISLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley couldn't have asked for a better weekend outing.  The Flying Dutchmen earned two sweeps at Dickinson's Tri-Meet on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 25.  The Blue and White made quick work of Ursinus by set scores of 25-10, 25-8, and 25-7 in the opener before leaving no doubt against the hosts with a 25-14, 25-17, and 25-17 in the finale. 

Against the Bears, sophomore Greta Weidemoyer racked up a team-high 12 kills while junior Alli Quirk added six of her own.  Junior Emily Sides recorded five kills and senior captain Kayla Confer and freshman Nina Mentzer pitched in with four apiece.

Senior captain Kacey Musselman dug out a team-best 13 Ursinus attempts to go along with her 32 assists while junior libero Allie Garrett racked up 12 digs.  Sides added six and sophomores Rachel Moltz and Morgan Webb each dug out five balls.  Quirk, Weidemoyer, Sides, and Confer combined for three blocks.

In the team's second victory of the day, Weidemoyer again led the way offensively with 11 kills.  Quirk had nine while Confer added seven.  Sides and Musselman chipped in with with six and five kills, respectively.

Garrett dug out 11 Dickinson attacks while Moltz racked up eight digs of her own.  Sides had five while Webb and Musselman recorded four digs each.  Musselman also assisted on 35 Dutchmen points.  LVC picked up points by blocking five Red Devil attempts at the net with Mentzer leading the way with four assisted blocks.

The pair of victories improved Lebanon Valley to 23-5 on the season.  The Dutchmen will turn their attention back to Commonwealth Conference play when they host Widener in their 2014 home finale on Tuesday night, Oct. 28.  First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
