ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley women's volleyball team did not a drop a set in two 3-0 victories on day one of the Flying Dutchman Tournament inside LVC Gymnasium on Friday evening.
LVC defeated York College (Pa.) in its first match of the day, winning 25-9, 25-21, and 25-23. The Valley sent York to its first loss of the season behind 10 kills from stellar freshman Greta Weidemoyer. Weidemoyer hit at a .381 percentage and added four blocks and a service ace to her statline.
Also contributing offensively was junior Kayla Confer with five kills, senior Megan Schoch with four kills, and sophomore Emily Sides with four kills. Junior Kacey Musselman was effective in the passing department with 22 assists, while freshman Morgan Webb and senior Jess Finlayson picked up 11 digs apiece to lead the side defensively.
In the second match of the day, the Valley used nine kills apiece from senior Sarah Godfrey and freshman Taylor Troutman to take care of Penn State Altoona in three sets. LVC took the first set, 25-11, and the second and third with 25-13 scorelines.
Musselman was impressive all over the court, posting five kills, seven service aces, 31 assists, and 14 digs to lead her team. Finlayson was on top again defensively with 19 digs, while Confer also added eight kills offensively.
The Valley are back in action tomorrow afternoon as they take on Central Penn at 1 p.m. and Franklin & Marshall at 3 p.m. to wrap up the weekend.
