HAVERFORD, Pa. - Haverford scored a second-half goal to break a 1-1 tie and beat Lebanon Valley, 2-1, in non-conference field hockey play Wednesday.

The Fords (1-1), who received votes in the NFHCA preseason top 20 poll, outshot the Dutchmen (0-3) by a 19-6 margin, but LVC kept it close until the end thanks to Lauren Brumbach's second-half goal.

Bryn Bissey scored the opener at 6:21, and the game stayed that way into the half as LVC repelled 12 first-half shots and seven corners by the hosts. Brumbach tied it with her goal at 47:20, her second of the season, but Megan Reilly put Haverford ahead just 1:04 later off Catherine Aronowitz's assist.

Chloe Baro made four saves in cage for LVC. Lindsey Lopes did not record a stop, although Brenna Boehman had to made a defensive save off a Brumbach shot midway through the first half. Haverford led 13-5 on penalty corners.

The Dutchmen will debut at home Sept. 10 against Swarthmore.
