Volleyball Sweeps on Day Two of Goucher Tourney

TOWSON, Md. – The Lebanon Valley volleyball team brought its top game to the court on Saturday afternoon, winning six straight sets in a pair of 3-0 victories at the Goucher Tournament.

In the first match of the day against the host, Goucher, the Dutchmen took care of the first set, 25-22, and the second set easily, 25-10. A 25-23 win in the third gave the Valley its 15th win of the year.

Freshman Greta Weidemoyer was the leader offensively with 10 kills, while classmate Taylor Troutman added nine and junior Kayla Confer posted six. Junior Kacey Musselman tallied 33 assists and senior Jess Finlayson picked up 22 digs. Additionally, Weidemoyer boasted two block solos at the net.

The second match of the day was even more lopsided as the Valley lost only 37 points over three games for the 3-0 victory over Hollins. LVC took the first two sets by 25-11 scorelines, while the third was won, 25-15.

Senior Megan Schoch took over the kill leader position with 10 kills on just 19 attempts for a .474 hitting percentage. Weidemoyer added eight kills, while senior Sarah Godfrey posted six.

Musselman led the way in passing and defense with 30 assists and 17 digs. The junior was also stellar from the service line with five aces. Schoch picked up two block solos and one block assist at the net and sophomore Emily Sides added eight digs defensively.

Following the conclusion of the tournament, Musselman was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Next up for the Dutchmen is a meeting with Elizabethtown on Wednesday inside LVC Gymnasium at 7 p.m.
