Lebanon Valley College 3, Eastern Mennonite University 1
HARRISONBURG, Va. – Freshman
Ian McGinnis tallied his second and third goals of the year and the Lebanon Valley men's soccer team completed its three-game road swing with a 3-1 victory at Eastern Mennonite on Wednesday evening.
Following an opening goal from EMU's David Hooley, senior goalkeeper
James Clements punched out a threatening shot into the box up the field to freshman
Josh Ferguson, who was able to beat the EMU goalkeeper to tie the game at one apiece. Clements earned an assist on the play, while Ferguson posted his sixth goal in five games to open his collegiate career.
Just before halftime, McGinnis was able to take a feed from sophomore
Curtis Washburn and give the Valley the 2-1 lead going into the break. The forward recorded his second of the day in the 69th minute to give LVC insurance and a 3-1 lead they would hold until the final buzzer.
Clements made eight saves on the day in goal to earn his fourth win of the year. LVC held a slight edge in shots with a 14-13 margin, while EMU took five corner kicks to LVC's two.
The Valley returns home on Saturday for a matchup with Moravian at Herbert Field at 3 p.m.
