GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley volleyball team earned its second conference victory on Tuesday evening, defeating Messiah in four sets.

After taking care of the first two sets by 25-19 and 25-17 tallies, the Dutchmen dropped the third set by a 25-21 margin. However, LVC came back in the fourth, taking the set and the match in dramatic fashion, 26-24.

"We fought tonight and I'm very pleased we were able to come away with the win," head coach Wayne Perry said. "Being able to close out the fourth set the way we did showed great comeback effort from our team."

In the fourth set, Messiah came back from an early deficit to tie it late at 24-24. LVC kept its composure and a kill from freshman Greta Weidemoyer, coupled with an attack error from Messiah's Jordyn Scheib sealed the match.

Junior Kacey Musselman recorded a double-double with 37 assists and 11 digs, while the Valley had two hitters with double-digit kills in Weidemoyer (14) and classmate Taylor Troutman (11). Musselman and junior Kayla Confer also posted eight kills to help the team offensively.

In the back line, freshman Rachel Moltz led the way with 17 digs and sophomore Allie Garrett picked up 14 balls. Moltz also tallied three service aces and Confer helped out at the net with two block assists.

With the win, the Valley moves to 8-2 on the season and 2-0 in Commonwealth Conference play. Next up for LVC is a trip to Chester, Pa. on Sept. 18 to take on Widener at 7 p.m.
