Lebanon Valley 18, Alvernia 4
ANNVILLE, Pa. - Lebanon Valley dominated the game at both ends of the field to beat Alvernia, 18-4, Wednesday night at Arnold Field.
The Dutchmen (9-2, 4-1 CC) tied the program record for wins in a season, and have chiseled their magic number down to one to clinch a Commonwealth Conference tournament berth.
Hana Krechel scored four goals with four assists, and
Sam Boyce had a superb all-around game with four goals, three draw controls, and four caused turnovers. With her eight-point game, Krechel moved up to 13th all-time in NCAA Division III with 368 career points.
Anna Pagels and
Bailey Benz added hat tricks, and
Mel Modrick had a pair of goals.
Allison McGinniss,
Haley Patrick also added strikes for LVC. Julie Sutton's two free-position goals paced Alvernia.
LVC outshot the Crusaders (6-6-1, 3-2 CC) by a 35-10 margin, but started it off in the midfield, outdrawing Alvernia 15-9 while holding them to just 5-of-14 on clears. The Dutchmen scored the game's first six goals, and outscored Alvernia 12-2 in the first half.
Erica Ameigh made four saves in the win for LVC. Victoria Kearn took the loss with six saves; Colleen Reilly had five stops in 20 minutes of relief.
The Dutchmen will head to Messiah on Saturday.
