Lebanon Valley 12, Scranton 11

ANNVILLE, Pa. - Lebanon Valley held off a late Scranton rally to secure a 12-11 win at Arnold Field on Saturday.

The Dutchmen improved to 3-0 for the first time in program history despite allowing the final five goals of the game to the Royals (0-2) after building up a 12-6 lead midway through the second half.

Allison McGinniss had a hat trick to lead a balanced offensive effort for LVC, which had eight different goal scorers. Anna Pagels netted two, and Hana Krechel handed out four assists with a goal. Erin Allen led Scranton with three goals.

LVC led 25-16 on shots and 14-11 on draw controls, but ran up against a hot goalie as Emily Towey made 12 saves for Scranton to keep the Royals in it. LVC led 6-1 in the early going after Jenny Simensky's opener set off a sequence with eight different Dutchmen scoring the first eight goals on the way to a 9-5 halftime lead.

McGinniss scored LVC's first two of the second half and Sam Boyce doubled up Scranton at 12-6 with 16:06 left, but that would turn out to be the Valley's final goal of the game. Allen hit the next two, and the Royals netted four in the final 6:32 to threaten to tie the game. However, LVC managed to work the stall effectively in the final five minutes after Emily Goss's man-up goal, and a Christine Dredger score with four seconds left proved moot as the hosts held on to win.

Erica Ameigh earned the win with four saves for LVC.

The Dutchmen visit Susquehanna on Wednesday.
