Susquehanna 15, Lebanon Valley 9
SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Susquehanna rode a 10-goal first half as it dealt Lebanon Valley its first loss of the season, 15-9, on Wednesday.
The Dutchmen (3-1) actually out-shot the Crusaders (6-0) by a 34-29 margin, but were held to just three goals on 16 first-half shots as the hosts racked up a 10-3 halftime lead.
Hana Krechel scored four with an assist for LVC, and
Morgan Maier added two.
Bailey Benz,
Sam Boyce, and
Mel Modrick also had goals. Emma Ehler's four strikes led SU, with Brynn Reid adding a hat trick.
Emily Stankaitis made 13 saves for the win;
Corinne Palombo stopped five in the first half for the Dutchmen, and
Erica Ameigh had two saves in the second.
SU scored the first three goals of the game, and after a relatively low-scoring start, the Crusaders hit six in the final 8:31 of the half - including three in a 57-second span - to break open a 6-3 game and lead 10-3 at the break. The Dutchmen rolled out of halftime with three consecutive goals, but SU quickly took control again with a four-goal run mid-half.
The Dutchmen return home Saturday to host Marywood.
