Lebanon Valley 2, Albright 1
READING, Pa. - A pair of second-half goals by
Lyndee Sheaffer lifted Lebanon Valley to a 2-1 comeback win at Albright in Commonwealth Conference play.
The Dutchmen (6-6, 2-0 CC) ran their winning streak to three games as they found 11 second-half shots to overcome a tough Albright (5-7, 1-2 CC) defense.
Both of Sheaffer's goals came after the break, leveling the game in the 40th minute before hitting the go-ahead strike in the 53rd minute off
Lauren Mowery's pass. They followed Alyssa Tourdot's 15th-minute conversion off Amanda Smith's pass to put the Lions ahead.
Lebanon Valley held an 18-11 shots advantage, but Albright led 6-4 on corners, including 5-0 in the second half. The Lions very nearly equalized with 1:04 remaining in the game, but
Kristen Garman made a defensive save on the line to deny Smith on the game's final shot.
Chloe Baro made two saves to pick up the win, while Marguerite DeLucas had seven stops for Albright.
LVC returns home Saturday night to host Hood at 6 p.m. as part of Oktoberfest Weekend. Before the game, Lebanon Valley will retire the #3 jersey of NCAA all-time leading scorer Jocelyn Novak '12.
