GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley women's soccer team suffered a hard-fought 2-0 loss on Saturday afternoon in Grantham to No. 8 Messiah.

After a scoreless opening half, the Falcons came out of the break with a controversial goal in the 49th minute to put Messiah up, 1-0. Content to work the ball with possession, the game remained at that scoreline for 40 minutes until Messiah's Corinne Wulf slotted a feed from Nikki Elsaesser into the back of the net for an insurance goal, pushing the final to 2-0.

Senior goalkeeper Becca Sykes made three saves in 49 minutes of play, suffering an injury on the first goal of the contest and coming out of the game. Freshman Taylor Reinhold took over for the final 41 minutes and "played outstanding," according to head coach Lauren Salerno. Reinhold also made three saves with one goal allowed in her second appearance of the year.

The Falcons held the edge in all of the statistical categories with an 18-4 edge in shots and a 10-3 advantage in corner-kick opportunities. Senior Lindi Crist posted two shots in the contest, while classmate Heather Tran and freshman Sammy Bost were the other shot-takers for the Dutchmen with one apiece.

Next up for the Valley is a meeting with Lycoming on Wednesday at Herbert Field at 4 p.m.
