Arcadia 2, Lebanon Valley 0
GLENSIDE, Pa. - Arcadia stymied Lebanon Valley all night long as they won, 2-0, in a Commonwealth Conference match-up.
In a game with postseason implications, the Knights (11-5, 5-2 CC) held the Dutchmen (8-8, 4-2 CC) shotless in the first half on the way to a 17-6 margin for the game. Arcadia clinched a CC tournament spot with the win and Albright's loss to Alvernia, while Lebanon Valley will have to wait until Saturday against Alvernia for their chance to secure a playoff bid.
Both teams battled for possession in the first half, with Arcadia managing three shots and one on goal to set up a scoreless halftime, but two goals in a seven-minute span in the second half made the difference. Ashley Ditchey dove onto a ball from
Chloe Baro's stick at 44:40 to pot the first score, and Rachel Longenecker shot from the far right side on Hannah Christensen's assist to double the lead at 51:17.
LVC was held without a shot until the 42nd minute, and put just two on goal to force a pair of saves by Brittany Hodson.
Megan Harris and
Lauren Grauer each had a pair of shots for the Dutchmen.
Baro made eight saves, including stopping a late penalty stroke opportunity by Debbie Wolfe that came after a quick three-shot, three-save sequence. Arcadia led 11-4 on corners.
The Valley will return home to host Alvernia at 1 p.m. Saturday.
