ANNVILLE, Pa. – Two second half goals capped off a strong showing by the Lebanon Valley men's soccer team in a 2-0 win over Hood on Tuesday at Herbert Field.

Following a scoreless first 50 minutes that saw the Valley hit three posts, junior Connor McDonald finally lit up the scoreboard as a seamless through pass from sophomore Cam Alexander found the foot of McDonald at the top of the 18. The junior's shot flew across the goal front and into the far-side netting to put the Dutchmen on top, 1-0.

Just seven minutes later, Hood committed a careless penalty in the box, setting up an LVC penalty-kick opportunity. Alexander slotted the shot in the back of the net give the Valley a 2-0 lead, and the defense held on with that score through the final whistle.

A must-needed win in conference play, LVC moves to 8-5-3 overall and 2-3-1 in Commonwealth Conference action. Senior goalkeeper James Clements notched the shutout, allowing five saves in 87 minutes in the cage.

The Dutchmen held a 16-9 shot advantage on the afternoon and an 8-3 edge in corner-kick opportunities. Six different LVC players posted two shots on goal each, while Hood picked up two yellow cards in a feisty end to the first half.

Next up for the Valley is a meeting with Elizabethtown at Herbert Field on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
