Lebanon Valley College 3, Elizabethtown 0 (25-12, 25-14, 25-17)
ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley volleyball team continued to dominate in home conference matches, taking care of Elizabethtown inside LVC Gymnasium on Wednesday evening, 3-0.
Wednesday's match sent Elizabethtown to its first loss in the conference and moved the Valley to 5-0 in Commonwealth Conference play. Additionally, the match was the final meeting between the two schools in regular season play as the Blue Jays are set to move to the Landmark Conference in 2014.
LVC has yet to drop a set in conference home matches adding a 3-0 win to straight-set victories against Alvernia and Arcadia.
Serving was the story of the match as the Blue Jays couldn't handle LVC's 19th-ranked serving prowess. The Dutchmen tallied 14 service aces as sophomore
Emily Sides led the way with six aces and freshman
Greta Weidemoyer added four.
The Valley dominated the entire match with 25-12, 25-14, and 25-17 set victories. Weidemoyer was nearly unstoppable in the attack, posting 12 kills on just 17 swings for an impressive .588 hitting percentage. Classmate
Alli Quirk added eight kills, while junior
Kayla Confer and freshman
Taylor Troutman sent down six kills apiece.
Junior
Kacey Musselman recorded a quiet double-double with 34 assists and 10 digs. Defensively,
Allie Garrett picked up 14 digs and Quirk sent back two block solos and two block assists at the net.
Next up for the Dutchmen is a trip to Doylestown, Pa. to compete in the MAC Crossover against Delaware Valley and FDU-Florham on Saturday.
