Lebanon Valley 81, Franklin & Marshall 76 (2OT)
LANCASTER, Pa. – Though Franklin & Marshall led through much of Wednesday afternoon's game, #13 Lebanon Valley was able to battle back and force two overtime periods. In the end, the Dutchmen left with an 81-76 win over the Diplomats.
Caitlin Bach led the push with a season-high 19 points and recorded her second double-double with 10 rebounds.
Kiely Chaklos,
Tierney Hiltz, and
Lauren Ruhl also reached double-digit scoring with 16, 14, and 12 points, respectively.
The Dutchmen (10-2) trailed through the entire first half and into the middle of the second half.
Kiely Chaklos drove for a layup at 12:25 to bring the game to a 45-45 tie, and
Liz Borgia drove for another to give the team a 47-45 edge for its first lead of the night.
The Diplomats (4-6) were able to recapture the lead through much of the remainder of the game, leading by as many as five points. Bach grabbed an offensive rebound and netted a rebound and converted with a layup to tie the game at 64-64 with 52 seconds on the clock – a tie that carried the game into the first overtime.
The teams combined for 14 total points of offense in what amounted to a gridlock and stalemate at 71-71, forcing the second overtime.
The Dutchmen outscored the Diplomats 10-5 in the final period and posted their final three points on free throws by Chaklos.
LVC returns to action at home on Saturday, when it hosts Stevenson.
