CARLISLE, Pa. – The Dutchmen had a relatively easy time on their first day of competition at the Dickinson Invitational Friday with sweeps over Dickinson (1-5) and Penn State Altoona (1-6). The wins extend Lebanon Valley (5-2) to a five-match winning streak heading into day two of the tournament.
The Dutchmen made short work of their hosts in the early match led by
Kayla Confer's 13 kills. Confer was aggressive at the front row with 31 attacks over the three sets.
Kellsie Groff finished strong with eight kills in the match, and
Kacey Musselman had six kills to go with 31 assists at setter.
LVC got plenty of production from its backrow. Musselman finished with three aces; the team tallied eight total, including two from
Sarah Godfrey and two from Groff.
The Dutchmen played most efficiently in the third set with a .286 attack percentage.
Allie Garrett led the defense with 19 digs. Groff and Musselman each reached double figures in digs with 12 and 10, respectively.
Megan Schoch made the team's only block.
Alli Quirk led the attack against Penn State Altoona with nine kills. Schoch and Godfrey each added five. Serving wasn't as strong as it was in the team's first match. LVC finished with four aces but seven errors.
Musselman and Garrett both posted a team-high 12 digs on the match.
Jess Finlayson had nine, and Quirk had five.
The Dutchmen will see York and Michigan-Dearborn Saturday on the final day of the tournament.
