HAVERFORD, Pa. - Two first-half goals by Haverford made the difference as the hosts topped #16 Lebanon Valley 3-1 on Thursday.
The Dutchmen (0-2) equaled the Fords (2-0) on shots at 16-16, but Haverford got the better of its chance while holding LVC to a lone
Cate Cusack strike late in the first half.
Haverford struck quickly in the fourth minute when Catherine Aronowitz converted from Bryn Bissey, and Bridget Gibbons doubled the lead in the 22nd minute thanks to Brooke Kelly. Despite 10 first-half shots, it would take LVC until the 34th minute to break through when Cusack finished
Caitlin Vasey's assist to make it a 2-1 game at the break.
Haverford padded its lead thanks to Christina Gould in the 49th minute, and repelled six LVC shots in the second half.
Haverford held a 14-9 corners advantage, while Sydney Hyder made six saves in the win.
Chloe Baro made five stops. Vasey led LVC with seven shots.
The Dutchmen return home Saturday to host Eastern at 6 p.m. in the first-ever night game at Arnold Field.
